500 Calorie Detox Diet Plan

In almost all the diet plans I share, there is one kept / classified as detox day. Let’s see what is this detox day all about. One detox day in the week can help you bring back all the energy, focus and boost you need. This article will also contain certain rules which you should ideally follow during this detox day

Benefits of one detox day in a week

  • Your digestive system gets a break
  • Your body gets the much needed cleansing and detoxification
  • It boosts your metabolism immensly
  • It boosts your energy and focus
  • One detox day in the week improves your sense of well being
  • Provides you with mental clarity
  • It supports your immunity
  • Gives you better skin texture

Certain rules you need to follow during this day

  • Consume only fruits and vegetables during the detox day
  • Make sure you keep away from all nuts / seeds and grains during this day
  • Don’t overload on fruits and vegetables, keep a check on the quantity you consume
  • Generally you should stick to 2-3 servings of fruits and 5-6 servings of vegetables
  • Stay hydrated with lots of water , coconut water and juices
  • Avoid any high intensity workouts during this day. Heavy workout will make you feel hungry. Stick to yoga / stretching instead
  • Consume herbal teas / drinks for detoxification during this day
  • Eat seasonal and regional fruits and vegetables
  • Don’t overeat in any one meal. This will defeat the very purpose of having this detox day
  • Your total calorie intake for this day shouldn’t go over 500 – 600 calories
  • Have early dinner during this day
  • Don’t overeat a day before or after the detox day diet

My diet on detox day

  • I break my fast on detox day with two small pears
    • These contain about 125 calories
  • The next meal I have is a carrot and beetroot smoothie
    • This smoothie contains about 118 calories. All ingredients prior to making the smoothie are steamed
  • 40 – 45 minutes post my smoothie I have a red detox tea
  • My lunch consists of mix vegetable salad. It consists of the following ingredients:-
    • Capsicum
    • Carrots
    • Beans
    • Cucumber
    • Tomato
    • Post lunch I have a herbal ginger tea
  • This is followed by a small mango
    • This has about 60 calories
    • My dinner consists of carrot tomato and pumpkin soup
      • This soup contains 185 calories
